Ladies! What would you like to have at a Girl’s Night Out Business Party?

Our company is throwing a Girl’s Night Out party for the ladies at local area businesses. I need some good ideas for this. We are having a massage therapist come and give free 5-10 minute massages and possibly a manicurist to give mini pedis/manis. We’re having a DJ and an open bar. We want to really pamper these ladies to thank them for their business. What would you like to have if you were coming to an event like this?

I would like to find capital funds for micro lending to rural folk small income generating activities?

The main objective of the rural folk groups is to eradicate poverty amongst members who are involved in small scale farming and livestock including small businesses and general community welfare programmes i.e. health, education, entrepreneur development
grants for micro lending funds to eliminate poverty within a village community

The Perryman Group has conducted a study on this, and their study found nothing but negative effects on the US. What do you think? and do you still think getting rid of them would be good for us?

The Perryman Group as a part of this study indicate that there are currently approximately 8.1 million undocumented workers in the US economy. If these workers were removed from the workforce, the effects would ripple through many industries and the ultimate job losses would be even higher.

For the US as a whole, the immediate negative effect of
eliminating the undocumented workforce would include an
estimated:

$1.757 trillion in annual lost spending,

$651.511 billion in annual lost output, and

8.1 million lost jobs.

Several states lose a notable percentage of business activity if
the undocumented workforce is removed. These states
naturally include several along the US-Mexico border, but also
others scattered around the country.

Per-capita losses in a number of states include thousands of dollars in annual economic activity.

Certain industries are especially dependent on the
undocumented workforce and would be particularly hard hit if
it were removed. In fact, for the agriculture and construction
sectors, the initial effects would be extremely disruptive.

Let me give you some details. My business consists of rental properties to wholesalers. A 140 properties with perhaps 300 attending this event/cook-out. I want to acknowledge my appreciation to them by providing an afternoon of fun and good food. Steaks on the grill, baked potato, the works on the meal…

I want a sorta “Fall Festival” type atmosphere. It will be casual. On a Sunday afternoon between 4 and 6 is the time frame, but may go longer. October weather is mild and still fairly warm here.

I was thinking a “dunk tank” would be fun? With ME (aka Boss) in the tank? But now I am at a loss of what else to do! I want this to be all about THEM having fun! The age group will vary from teen to elderly so I need appropriate activities. Expense is not a problem for these great people. I don’t need party planners or web sites. I would prefer good ideas from working minds.

Imagine an 8 page+ (free newspaper) that is distributed in 10s-100s of place. Ad space is $40 weekly for the smallest ad, which is 3×3″. Ad space can be used for publicity, coupons, event announcements etc. In a city of 200k, 600k copies would be distributed to gas stations, fast food locations, bus stations etc.

There are brief editorials throughout the paper to keep a reader glued/interested.

What do you think? I’m thinking about buying a franchise of one of these companies at a modest price of $8.5k.

Would this be easy to sell? I think it’s CHEAP advertising compared to listing in the newspaper, and more copies are distributed.
The weekly print bill would be appx $700. 63 3×3 ad’s can fit in an 8 pg paper.

What variations or qualities would make homemade, fresh bread a must have? Flavors, visual ideas?

…..I am planning to start a part-time baking business locally, and wanted some input. I know the bread is good. Being served very fresh from the oven, people enjoy it enough that they seldom use condiments. Not even butter.

Some item ideas would be like yoyos or skateboards. My idea is to have a carnival at my school. The thing is if they pay to play a game they’ll want a prize in return. So what be a good company to help for this type of fundraising. Its for a high-school. Charity is for Habitat for Humanity.

NEW YORK – In Paris, they call it La Plage, or the beach. And in Bogota, Colombia, it’s Ciclovia, or bikeway.

For six hours Saturday in New York, it was called Summer Streets: Nearly seven miles of Manhattan that were stripped of traffic, creating a weekend playground for bikers, walkers and loungers.

“Bellissimo!” declared Antonio de Lucia, a tourist from Caserta, Italy, who read about the event and decided to walk about three miles from his Chinatown hotel to a friend’s Times Square restaurant — with more than 90 pounds of luggage. An hour into his hike, he was smiling as he sauntered up a stretch of Park Avenue awash in cyclists, pedestrians and in-line skaters. One man on a bicycle swooped down a sloped section of the avenue yelling “whee!” at full voice.

“It’s a moment of truth for this city. People are participating — New Yorkers are united with their city,” said de Lucia, a 29-year-old business consultant.

Bike-loving celebrities Lance Armstrong and David Byrne are helping Mayor Michael Bloomberg launch the experiment. It emulates similar initiatives in cities around the world in aiming to create a livable, ecologically gentle urban environment.

The 6.9-mile, car-free route started at the Brooklyn Bridge and ended to the north at East 72nd Street, with links to Central Park and other open spaces. It included stretches of Park and Lexington avenues and is set to be repeated for the next two Saturdays, starting at 7 a.m.

The idea is simple, in the words of the city’s official Web site: “Play. Run. Walk. Bike. Breathe.”

Fitness, dance and yoga classes were offered at a central stage along the route, with additional exercise and health activities hosted by community groups at certain cross streets. Bike rental facilities were available along the route, including learn-to-ride lessons for adults.

I work for a university and am trying to come up with some new programs/events to engage college students. We have a small budget ( $200-2000 or so) for each event. I just need some ideas of new and exciting things to do. One of the things we do now is a business clothes donation and sale/ fashion show. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!
