Why are you in business? Some people say it’s to get rich. Others say it’s so they can be their own boss. Why do you do what you do?

Do you enjoy your work? Do you bounce out of bed in the morning eager to begin the day, tackle a project, or solicit new business?

Business owners typically have a vision for the future of their company. More often than not the path to achieving that vision may become blurred or even rocky on occasion.

What do you do when that happens? Here are alternatives used by some business owners:

1. Consult a mentor.

2. Take a class or check out some online forums.

3. Take a break. Go for a walk. Read a book.

4. Initiate a brainstorming session.

5. Doodle, Squiggle, or Journal thoughts and ideas. Don’t be concerned if they’re random. Any one of them could produce the solution or alternative.

1. Log on to all of your established professional networking sites and post something about your business. Promote yourself!

2. Write one article or web press release… and Publish It!

3. Refer an associate or colleague to a business professional that will benefit from their services.

No one will promote like you will!

No one will extol the virtues of the products or services you offer with the same excitement and intensity that you will. The internet opens doors for publicity and marketing that were once either inaccessible or non-existent for business owners. In addition to your current sales and marketing plan, begin a strategy of writing and posting informational articles and press releases about your company.

Your articles and press releases should, of course, include big news but are also for all occasions (i.e. new staff member on your team, business event your company is sponsoring, new product being offered, your personal review of developments in your industry, etc.). I made the mistake of inviting my sister on my work’s local work retreat. Spent a Saturday evening on the mountain, and co-worker (semi-bigwig) ended up hitting on her. Now my sister says she’s gonna date him (she says this in anger and knowing that he has money & a GF). I’m at a loss. My sister is vindictive. I’ve worked diligently for this company for 3 1/2 years and I’m a sole provider to my daughter and I. My sis is $ hungry, looking for a free ride. He’s (my co-worker-big-wig) is a 2-timer looking for a lay.
I’m just trying to keep the peace, without being extorted by my sister. What do I do? Tell HR? Tell the two-timing suitor that I am not associated?? I honestly dont know.
Please help. I need to know my rights. If you have any questions I’d be happy to specify.
BTW-There is not a chance this relationship could work. This is highly revolved around $, and not love of any sort.
Again, plz advise.

Hi.. the company l work for is having a 50″ oscar theme event. It’s a yearly meeting where all the employees gather and prizes are given for the employee of the year, the manager of the year etc.
I am on the planning committee, and l am trying to come back with good ideas.

Ok so we have to set up a mini business for a school project and the idea i had was to have a website with details of events going on locally. Things like concerts, comedy gigs, maybe cinema listings, things like that. I figure i could make money by offering the site as a place to advertise to the people who are holding the events. Do you think this is a good idea??… if so do you have any ideas how i could improve the site, or how i could get people to visit the site. Also, i was thinking we could have a service that we could charge a small fee for (im not sure what there called, but where people can log in and out) and we could have like a loyalty program or they get text alerts or something, ideas on this would also be greatly appreciated!!… thank you all so much in advance!!!…
