the Aig spent the tax dollars bailout money this way: If you’d just gotten a government bailout, you might be tempted to hold a retreat at a nice California hotel — and that’s exactly what American International Group (AIG: 3.51, -0.36, -9.30%) executives did.

The committee on Oversight and Government Reform held a hearing on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. Eastern time. to address and examine downfall of AIG, the world’s largest insurance company. The committee planned to discuss the financial excesses and regulatory mistakes that led to AIG’s government bailout.

One of the items discussed was AIG’s expenditure of $440,000 for a corporate retreat at the St. Regis Monarch Beach resort in Los Angeles, Calif. These funds were spent on Sept. 22, a week after the Federal Reserve extended an $85 billion emergency loan to AIG to keep it from going bankrupt due to insurance liabilities.

According to the receipt from the St. Regis, the eight-day company retreat was a lavish one — $139,000 was spent on hotel rooms, while even more money — $147,301 — was spent on banquets. Another $23,380 was spent on undisclosed spa treatments and another $6,939 was spent on golf. A full $9,980 was spent on room service and food and cocktails at the hotel lounge.

The St. Regis Monarch Beach resort is described on its Web site as “a landmark resort of legendary proportions.”

Legendary, indeed.

My friends owns a video game company and wants me to think of ideas.. anything u can help with?

Its not a video game company were they sell games.. its sort of mlg based. he wants me to come up with something I could do besides being an Event organizer… his friend aaron is a Promotion Leader and he has graphic designers and film leaders.. what else could I do.. I only have High school.. I know a lot about video games since that is what our company is about.. I can Organize events, but he wants me to have more ideas so I can become full time.. any suggestions ?

Imagine an 8 page+ (free newspaper) that is distributed in 10s-100s of place. Ad space is $40 weekly for the smallest ad, which is 3×3″. Ad space can be used for publicity, coupons, event announcements etc. In a city of 200k, 600k copies would be distributed to gas stations, fast food locations, bus stations etc.

There are brief editorials throughout the paper to keep a reader glued/interested.

What do you think? I’m thinking about buying a franchise of one of these companies at a modest price of $8.5k.

Would this be easy to sell? I think it’s CHEAP advertising compared to listing in the newspaper, and more copies are distributed.
The weekly print bill would be appx $700. 63 3×3 ad’s can fit in an 8 pg paper.

What are your thoughts on this business idea.

A service that helps set up dating locations for first dates, couples, special occations, etc.. This service would cater a niche market for daters.
The service would provide potential customer’s with options to pick from for a date. Once a location or event is selected, the service would take care of all the arrangements. We would provide details about the location and what to expect.
For example, if someone picked a nice dinner, then we would pick a great location close to were the customer lives. Provide details about the menu, pricing and parking. We would call the restaurant and make all the reservation.
This idea is still a work in process.

I have been baking since I was a kid and I am very good at it. I usually bake for a lot of different occasions. I was thinking of opening a business out of my home where I can take orders for certain events and either charge per dozen of a particular cookie or I can make cookie tray arrangements and sell them by the tray.

For the cookie trays, I was thinking for cookies like cannoli’s and pizelles I could charge more, or I can make just a regular cookie tray….depending on what customers would want.

I figured I could advertise in a few local spots and take phone orders for a future date.

What does everyone think about this idea? Would you pay someone to make cookie trays for an occasion? It would be great for graduations or weddings. Also, what would you pay for something like this? Any tips or ideas to improve?

Thanks soo much! Also, I wasn’t planning on quitting my full time job to do this and my mom and grandma would be helping as well.

Ok so we have to set up a mini business for a school project and the idea i had was to have a website with details of events going on locally. Things like concerts, comedy gigs, maybe cinema listings, things like that. I figure i could make money by offering the site as a place to advertise to the people who are holding the events. Do you think this is a good idea??… if so do you have any ideas how i could improve the site, or how i could get people to visit the site. Also, i was thinking we could have a service that we could charge a small fee for (im not sure what there called, but where people can log in and out) and we could have like a loyalty program or they get text alerts or something, ideas on this would also be greatly appreciated!!… thank you all so much in advance!!!…
