Every profession and post requires proper talents, and when it comes to buying/selling these skills become most requisite for continuation. Below are various most prominent skills you need if you wish to move ahead with business industry.

Communication Skills: Communication plays a significant part in the success of any business and used to raise connections, cerebral resources, to support an idea, a product, or a joint venture – with the goal of creating value for your business. In business world it is identified as networking. Business insisted that you handle strangers on a routine basis. These outsiders are your forthcoming clients. Though, networking does not purely mean struggling hard to persuade your customers to obtain your products. To network fruitfully, you need to introduce yourself and compose countless contacts – links that may or may not be capable of facilitating your production down the line. The theme is to widen the speech with reference to your business; and the more bonds you make, the bigger your probability of building an efficient network and attaining new business through proposals.

Marketing Approach: Regardless of how much your product or service is on the move or how seriously an employment you do, if communities don’t know about you, it won’t be possible for you to have a great deal in business. You should be capable enough to make your business detectable to the people who are interested, and this means comprehending marketing. You must know about yourself, identify that why you choose this line and knowledge of business basics you do. These are normally the initial inquiries that people will ask you to respond. Be definite to have an understandable and brief answer. Satisfy your listener that you mull over what you do and that you are conceited of it. Adaptation to new technologies and ideas, in business only fastest and fittest survive.

Time and Self-management Skills: It’s not a joke to carry out business in the way you want. You’ll have to do the business with interest, hold the business, and effectively manage the business. This means you’ll need to organize your time well to make sure the most significant and critical tasks get done in a sensible manner. Strive to systematize yourself and set model for others. Examine when you are more convivial, inventive or loosing energy, where do you outshine and which areas need improvement. Before you can direct anyone else you need to discover how to get the matchless capabilities out of yourself.

Problem Solving Skills: A big component to remain in business is about solving crises rapidly and ably. These skills resolve appropriate methods for scrutinizing causes, detect origins of problems and show direction to elucidate solution to problems.

Entrepreneurial and Creative Skills: Entrepreneur is an entity who consistently creates and modernizes to construct something of renowned value around observed prospects. Entrepreneurial inventiveness is about coming up with original ideas and mold them into value-creating productive business tricks. Loads of people avoid their creative ability feeling that it is all about the use of common sense at the right time, but in fact some of the most triumphant business personalities are also the most ingenious.

There are number of things that you have to consider before exposing to a business networking to avoid the ruinous blunders. Before attending a business network, make it certain that you have a proper grip over your pitch. This will help you to express clearly that what your business is offering and what advantages other can take from your business. This will enable you to create a strong association with your business circle. Remember, you can succeed only when you are clear in your intention. You are there in this event to gain something for your business. It is very easy to be attracted by the gatherings of friends and relatives, but you must have to remember that it is a business event where you have to create the business networking for your business that is why you have to be practical in your behavior.

Business networking is advantageous in the sense that it provides you a platform to meet with people of like minded or of same interest. Moreover, you can learn about new business strategies being used by other business personnel. Business networking is also important in sense of bringing new ideas and creativity. Networking can also reduce the cost of business advertisement. For example, you can join a professional referral group where you just have to pay a minimum membership fee and in turn, create business supported by spoken advertisement. Suppose you have 15 members in your referral group and by joining this referral group, you have a group of 15 people speaking in favor of your business. Does not it sound interesting to you? Networking can be a mean of gaining huge business profit if devised carefully. If you are joining the referral group, make the comprehension investigation about and then proceed if you want to create a profitable and strong business networking.

As we all know, cold calling can be a very un-productive way to build your contacts and generate sales leads – especially if you’re one of the many people who are not comfortable pitching to strangers on the phone or with one foot jammed in their door. Prospects pick up on this lack of confidence and immediately get on the defensive.

A far more quantifiable and productive way to generate leads and convert prospects to clients is through networking.

Networking is more than just laughing at bad jokes

Networking is not about turning up at events, shaking hands, passing out business cards and laughing at bad jokes. And it’s not just an action you take when you want something. It’s a life skill.

Of course, events are a major part of networking. But networking also encompasses many other acts. For example, a spontaneous phone call, fax, email, thank you card or small gift to someone. It’s a kind word to a fellow worker or neighbour, even a good morning greeting to a complete stranger. And you can do anywhere, anytime.

To be a great networker you need to:

• give without expectation
• do things for others – not wanting something back
• have an abundance mentality and with this alone anything is possible
• believe in making the pie bigger for everyone. They cross-network with competitors and regularly give referrals.
• know that having a poverty mentality – where people come from fear of sharing ideas of giving information away freely – is a negative way to live.
• believe in the universal law of reciprocity – what you give out comes back ten fold in the future.
And you should consciously put it into practice at least fifteen minutes a day.

Business events are a more traditional type of networking. For many people business networking events can be an uneasy experience. But they shouldn’t be. If you really believe in your product or service, networking events offer a great opportunity to share your enthusiasm, meet others, learn more what’s going on outside your own little world and make some fantastic contacts along the way.

11 tips for feeling comfortable at networking events

1. On the receipt of the invitation write “Why am I going?” and come up with an answer before you arrive. It will help you focus on the job at hand.
2. Work out your logistics. Can you get there in time; do you have another function?
3. What to wear – ask what the appropriate dress code is when you book.
4. Arrive early and leave late.
5. Be in a positive frame of mind.
6. Ask if you can help at the desk- so the people who know all the right people get to know you.
7. Keep your name tag on the right – it’s easier for people to glance at.
8. Identify speakers of influence and ask “Do you mind if I join you?”
9. Say that you specialise in (insert your unique selling proposition)
10. Commit to being present – listen to the people you speak with
11. Maintain eye contact with each person you talk to – don’t go looking over shoulders for more interesting targets.

If you want to generate good quality leads in a highly productive way, then brush up on your networking skills. You’ll be surprised how many more of your prospects soon become clients.

As business networking is always on the minds of all the entrepreneurs and other people who don’t own a business and are employed with some employer, the significance is mostly misunderstood. Most of the time people go to a business event, meet a lot of people there, have conversations with them, collect lots of business cards and come back. After coming back from these events mostly it happens to be of no use. When next day they see those business cards and try to get those people back to mind, they fail. They try to think of those people they had conversations with but no excellent results come out of their minds. They are unable to remember their names and their businesses.

Nobody wants to be forgotten and definitely you also don’t want this. It is good to give your business cards to other people but it is of no use if people don’t have you in their minds for future help.

So you should follow some guidelines to be memorable and stand out in a meeting.

Be unique and idiosyncratic. Wear something unusual and beautiful which will make you unique as well and help you stand out from rest of the crowd. This will not be the reason of identification but something which makes you distinctive will help others to remember you. Don’t be an outlier but also don’t merge and mix with the rest of mass.

You should be completely attentive and present physically and mentally as well. Be wholly busy and attentive of the people you interact with. Make an eye contact, listen carefully, reply quickly, etc. but you don’t need to put effort on all this because if you are really present it will happen automatically.

Show your interest and ask questions which need enough explanation by the next person. Questions should be who, how, why and of this kind which does not just need an answer in yes or no. you can ask a business person that how he started his business, where did he get the idea from, what hurdles he faced, how he recovered from failures, what do you like most about your business etc. The questions should be specific according to the situation and person. Questions should be arisen in response to the ongoing conversation. Show your full interest in the person and his business in this way.

Advertise yourself precisely. Don’t give long explanations and descriptions of yourself and your organization and services or products. The reason is that people don’t tend to remember long introductions. So be precise and emphasize and highlight your keywords which you want to be remembered. Mostly people n to remember your name, company, product or service and the location you are operating. So try to highlight and emphasize these names for others to remember it.

Try to contribute something good to the conversation. First listen carefully to other people and then adding something valuable will make them remember.

It is a matter of course for most Event Organizers to create an online community platform that allows event attendees and delegates to communicate on line in a secure, easy-to use location. More and more people are becoming used to working with this new tool and taking advantage of its benefits.

At the same time, Event Organizers can also profit from the increased efficiency that comes together with online networking platforms. Experience shows that online networking solutions, where delegates have the chance to communicate in a dedicated online environment, saves up to 50 percent of the administrative costs normally incurred when organizing an event and adds a great deal of value. Online solutions therefore also mean an increase in efficiency and an improvement in quality.

With a properly formatted online networking platform, Events Organizers only have to pay for using the system, no local installations or adaptations are necessary. The system is up and running in a very short time and can be used immediately. By using an online networking provider, the event receives a reliable, tested solution that is operated by a professional and with a suitable infrastructure that does not build or require any adaptation to their current site. Thanks to concentrating on the essentials the online networking provider is also able to react quickly to additional requirements and, for example, make more storage or faster hardware available. Companies receive a quality of performance and service that, as a rule, they cannot provide themselves when it comes to networking options for their meetings and events.

Within the Event Industry, the attendees as well as the booth attendants already assume that the Event will set up an online platform for communication networking. The replacement of paper-based networking by online processes is already offering new services that were unimaginable a short time ago, such as applications from online networking providers.

Meetings, conferences and exhibitions all fulfill the basic purpose of getting to know people, exchanging information and looking after and extending networks. Visitors to an event even constitute a community of like-minded individuals. Gone are the days when the only content of an event can be discussed at the event? An online networking can be used to investigate the topical subjects that have arisen in relation to an event.

In discussion forums, many ideas and business information can be discussed online, independently of the actual event. These solutions do not just clearly offer the participants multiple benefits; by way of return they are also available to the organizer. Indeed he receives additional communication channels for making people aware of his content.

Online, event-based networking is both economical and can increase the ROI of an event in a matter of days. With all the new technology, and attributes that are beneficial to meeting organizers and Sponsors alike, online networking will only grow in demand.

Hetty Browne is the CEO and Founder of EventScope, a leading global provider of customizable online networking services for the Conference, Meetings and Events Industry. Used by over 100 event planners around the world, their networking service enables participants to connect and communicate on line in a secure and dedicated environment, before, during and after the event. With no additional resources needed by event organizers, the service can be deployed and ready to use within 24 hours.

There are over 30 different networking organisations in the Reading Berkshire area. It has been said that you could network all day every day if you wanted too but which organisations are the best ones for you?

After a year of trial and error I have experienced a variety of different groups that could work for different people and different industries. The BNI which stands of Business Network International is the most successful networking organisation in the world. It was started in America by Dr Ivan Minster and has been the bench mark of profitable networking ever since. Their Ferocity is Givers Gain, if I give you business hopefully you would like to give me business in return.

Their meeting are very structured and are on a weekly basis starting promptly at 7am and finishing at 9am. This has been questioned by a lot of people saying it does not let working Mums have the opportunity to join and these people have now started to run afternoon meetings in its place. There is a lot of commitment when joining BNI not only financially but time wise as well, but if you are prepared to do all of this then you really get out what you put in.

Ladies who Latte meets at the Copthorne Hotel in Reading once a month and as suggested in the title this is an all women networking event. There is a turn out of about 20-25 women and is very much a social lunch as well as business events. Most of the women attending these Ladies who Latte meetings are promoting products, massages, holidays and the like. Most are generally working part time or are just stepping out into business.

Mary Flavelle networking takes place all over the Berkshire area but the nearest one to Reading is in Bracknell at the Bear Keller by the John Nike Centre. This is a monthly Networking Event run by Mary herself. Mary is an extremely passionate and fun person to know and her breakfast meetings are extremely popular and up beat attracting a group of over 30 local networkers. This is a group not to be missed.

NRG Networking is run by David Clarke at Wokefield Park in Mortimer. This is a lunch time meeting. They run business seminars before each business networking lunch. These pre-lunch seminars cover business or personal development topics as well as giving people the opportunity to network. Seminar topics are chosen with the independent professional in mind. The kinds of people that attend this event are mostly experienced business owners.

Duffnuts is a new local networking group which is run by some experienced local networkers. This is a free event which takes place at the moat house in Sindlsham on the last Friday of every month. There is usually a great turn out of about 25-30 local business people. There is free parking out side and you are able to order some lunch from the restaurant if you wish. I have found there to be a lot of regulars that attend Duffnuts so it is a great way to build strong relationships.

Word of Mouse is a franchise and was started by the directors of The Business Referral Exchange. The idea of this networking group is to network on line and off line and costs £25 per month which you can pay as you go. When using the web you join a power circle and there will only be one person from one industry in each circle. The area coordinator will arrange monthly meeting and make sure that everyone is contributing effectively and will help and improve when needed.

Networking in your local area is very important not only to achieve referrals and to make local connections but to give and receive great advice as well. The idea is to not sell to the room but to make strong relationships which will hopefully result in business in the future. Networking should not be a short term fix and if you go in with that attitude then you will come out with nothing. Make sure you have goals for networking just like you would with any sort of marketing and advertising so you know what you want to achieve out of each and everyone. This stops people treating the networking event like a socials meeting.

Happy Networking.

Second Life (abbreviated as SL) is a virtual world developed by Linden Lab that launched on June 23, 2003 and is accessible via the Internet. A free client program called the Second Life Viewer enables its users, called Residents, to interact with each other through avatars. Residents can explore, meet other residents, socialize, participate in individual and group activities, and create and trade virtual property and services with one another, or travel throughout the world, which residents refer to as the grid. Second Life caters for users aged over eighteen, while its sister site Teen Second Life is restricted to users aged between thirteen and eighteen.

Second Life has an internal currency, the Linden dollar (L$). (i personally thought this was funny) L$ can be used to trade goods, land and services with other users. Virtual goods include buildings, vehicles, devices of all kinds, animations, clothing, skin, hair, jewelry, flora and fauna, and works of art. Land in Second Life is a valuable and scarce commodity and can be bought, sold or rented. Users may also offer items or services to other users in exchange for L$; services include “camping”, working in stores, business management, entertainment (which prominently includes adult entertainment), custom content creation, and other personal services. L$ is usually purchased from other users with real-world currency; Linden Lab and others[1] offer a brokerage service for these transactions. The most popular usage for the exchange of L$ for US$ is in order to pay Second Life’s subscription fees. In spite of attracting large volumes of press coverage, only a very small percentage of Residents derive a net income from the economy.

and apparently you have to pay a monthly fee for owning land…

oooh my gosh!
is this what people’s laziness in this world is resorting to??
people could go out there in the REAL world and get what they want done in life done and strive for their goals. but no.. that seems to be too much work. so they ditch that idea and seek satisfaction from this site? they are too lazy to go out and make a change in their own life… so they sit at home and waste their real life building this fake little fantasy life that will probably never come true because they are to busy creating it…. and what have you accomplished by creating a fantastic life on second life? nothing. absolutly nothing this just makes me sick

please give your comments and/or opinions on this site. or comment on my opinion.
seriously.. i am open to anything… even inform me about this site if you feel like it, tell me off if need be, i am just curious as to what people think about this topic…

How to you find business in a recession – Business Networking

Cold calling and telephone canvassing are hard work at the best of times but, in a recession, you can get very down-hearted with continual rebuffs.

Networking and exchanging information and contacts with others in business is an excellent way to generate leads and possible future sales.

What is Networking? – It is building relationships.

To build worthwhile and long term relationship, you need trust. That is how good business is conducted, not just through a quick sale and conducting transactions. Networking is not about short term wins – it is about building trust with people who will, in time, refer you to others that they know. To get to the trust you have to get to know the person first then there has to be mutual liking. You build a relationship.

In Spelthorne there are several business networking events – some are weekly, fortnightly and others monthly or bi-monthly. We have created links to a number of them in this article.

The most common type of networking is at an event, arranged by an organisation, or by a company that specialises in these things and usually, but not always, charges a fee for membership. Groups will meet regularly, probably once a month. It’s often over breakfast or lunch, giving business people, most of whom will be involved in the sales side of the business, a chance to develop relationships with others. Some groups only charge for the meal, often referred to as a meeting fee.

Some groups such as BNI, probably the most successful business networking company, only allow one person from any type of business to be a member, thus shutting out the competition- often referred to as exclusive networking. The members form strong relationships and act as sales people for each other.

Local groups include:

BNI Staines – www.bni-staines.co.uk

4Networking – www.4networking.biz/

Surrey Chamber of Commerce – www.surrey-chambers.co.uk/catalog/index.php

Spelthorne Business Forum – www.spelthorne.gov.uk/wrk_business_forum_info.htm

Menzies Business Lunch (bi-monthly) – contact Catherine Parfitt [cparfitt@menzies.co.uk]

Ashford Business Forum (3rd Monday monthly) – contact Michael Alderson[malderson@timeless-it.co.uk]

These meeting can be very effective for putting together a network of contacts that can lead to greater sales. Another company may need what you’re selling, or know of someone else who does and give you a referral. It’s much easier than the traditional cold calling method of selling, and has a much higher success rate.

The other type of networking is online. It’s a good cheap way of promoting a business and creating a very wide range of global contacts. There is usually no charge for joining but you will find that you are contacted by people who may not have relevance to what you do – for example if you operate in Spelthorne and your business is just in and around this area, you will still get people from other parts of the world contacting you. You have to pick the ones to make contact with. The more established sites include ecademy, linkedin, connectbuzz, ryze and tribe.net.
