I was interested in joining the USAF (Fighter Pilot) but I just figured out I am not ?

Now, I don’t want to be a doctor, or a business woman, or a teacher, or some boring job like that. I’d like to know an opinion about what kind of a job I’d be qualified and good for that’s similar or close. Even something like a branch of lawinforcment. Here is a little about me:
I am 16 right now, Female, and have been training myself. I am 5′10″, 130 pounds, can lift 90 pounds, and I wear glasses. I was on meds two years ago for seizures but am now seizure free for two years now. The seizures only happened at night when I did have them and never while I was awake or during the day. I am in tenth grade and have been getting college grades on my SAT’s since I was in eighth grade. I’m homeschooled and go to homeschool group activities all the time. My parents are a bit old fashioned and don’t believe women ought to be in the military or any law inforcement job so I can’t go anywhere to train. Thanks! I appreciate anyone’s opinion!

Well your focus right now should be going to college. To be a fighter pilot you have to have a college degree and get a commission as an officer. Major in something like avionics.

A word of warning though, the seizures may be a problem. They may DQ you for military service, especially flying.

Go for it! You sound like someone smart taking SATs since 8th Grade because Im a sophomore (10th grade) now too but I go to a public school and we dont take all that fun stuff until Junior and Senior year. I myself wish to go to the Naval Academy so when I quit 5-10 years of service I can get paid good money when I get out and get a job fast.

I recommend you go to the Air Force Academy, you become an officer and its like college but its better than any other state university. So if you change your mind again and your already in you can quit and get paid good money and get a job fast because you went to the USAF Academy. But if you decide to stay you get an officers pay and get to plan and lead your own missions! Good luck!

The seizures are a problem for being a pilot. The military gets enough perfectly healthy volunteers that they can be real picky there. That still leaves a number of flying jobs available. Also USCG is a very honorable military to serve. They are known as the Lifesavers and serve as LEO for international maritime safety, fish and game, and anti narcotics and illegal immigration. I did 6 years with US Coast Guard and regret none of it. 275 lives saved by myself and shipmates in a 3 year sea duty tour.

As for your parents view of what women should and should not do. Well you should love them and honor their values while you are under their roof. But, in the end a woman shall leave her home and a man shall leave his mother and both must make a life on their own before they can make a family of their own. Love your parents and make your own choices in life then live with the consequences. God Bless and good luck with your life!

Check out the service academies for your higher education.

Seizures and the vision problem will DQ you defiantly for being a pilot and the seizures might DQ you from the service all together

With that said becoming a pilot isn’t a walk in the park first off everything about you has to be damn near perfect, not to tall / short, perfect vision / etc, etc, etc

Secondly you have to get a commission in the Air Force which is competitive enough then you have to be selected for flight school which is even more competitive

With that said if you aren’t the best of the best of the best of the best you might want to focus you attention at school and remember just because you can’t fly Fighter Jets doesn’t mean you can’t fly Commercial Airliners

Also you can be a teacher or a doctor and probably even a police officer (maybe they do have physicals and look at your medical past)

no matter how many times you ask,the answer is the same.. your overall chances are VERY slim that you will get your dream job. Let alone be permitted to serve in the military.
