How To Use TwitPic To Boost Your Business

I recently ran across a cool tool called TwitPic that lets you share photos on Twitter, the microblogging and social media service. You can post photos to the tool from the website TwitPic.com, or from many cell phones.
The tool has been around since February 2008, and is gaining in popularity. It was the top Twitter tool in January 2009 with 1,236,828 unique visitors to the website. These stats don’t include usage of TwitPic via cell phones or other Twitter clients that have built-in support, so in reality the number of users is even larger.
If you are using any of the following twitter clients, they have built-in support for TwitPic: Twitterrific, twirl, Mobile Twitter an app for the iPhone, ceTwit a Windows Mobile phone app, Twittelator, and Blogo a Max blog editor.
In looking through many photos that have been submitted, here are the most common types of photos people are sharing:
1. Babies and puppies – Both are irresistible and are fun to share. Who doesn’t like to get a cute baby or puppy picture.
2. Sunsets – I love these too, especially at the beach.
3. Food – Especially desserts that look like works of art. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it! Mine has to have chocolate or it’s not a real dessert.
4. Events – Newsworthy incidents happening in real-time.
5. Vacations – Very cool. An instant postcard, more personal, and much more convenient when using your mobile phone.
6. Driving – Hmmm, not sure I recommend doing this but lots of people are.
A great example of a real-time event occurred in January, after a US Airways plane crashed in the Hudson River. A now infamous photo of the crash was taken by a passenger on a nearby ferry and uploaded via mobile phone to TwitPic. The photo was broadcast before traditional media even arrived on the scene. In fact, the photo was re-tweeted so rapidly by a large number of people that it caused the TwitPic service to go down for a short time.
Here are a couple of ideas on how you can publish photos on Twitter to boost your business. If you are speaking at an event, make sure to get a photo of you in action and send it out. Or, if you’re attending an event with a well-known speaker, send out a photo of the speaker.
Share photos of company events. If you want to portray a business-like image, post photos of formal business events or trainings. If you have a network marketing business, you may want to show your team having fun together.
The first step is to decide what type of image you want to portray for your business. Then just post appropriate pictures.
