Good Ideas For Corporate Events In South Africa

Business behemoths have slowly cottoned on to the fact that, in order to have a productive work force, it is imperative to reward outstanding service. Thankfully, the days of insufferable cocktail parties and endless speeches over dinner are a thing of the past and innovative corporates are looking a little further afield for unique corporate events.

Reward may not be the only motivating force behind a tailored corporate outing; there may be a need for the formation of better inter and intra office relationships. And what better way than to bring all the staff members together in a relaxed and informal setting.

Corporate events require a significant investment

However, corporate events require a significant investment from businesses and consequently only the finest of options should suffice. In the United Kingdom, for instance, a quick calculation concluded that corporate events typically absorb 1% of total working hours and, more importantly, 1% of the total annual staff budget – not a figure to be taken lightly.

In South Africa there are a number of innovative and interesting ways to boost the morale of employees, each of which are fun and hopefully memorable.

River antics

Several reputable events companies offer team building and corporate events on the water. Based at some of the bigger rivers of the nation, including the Vaal, Doring and Breede Rivers, teams take part in all sorts of activities that demand that individuals work only as a team.

The Survivor Series will quickly separate the men from the boys while a treasure hunt may entail a 12m high abseil to collect the first clue.

Bush survival

Another popular choice is bush survival. Members are taught all sorts of skills, including tracking wild animals on foot, reading a compass properly, navigating by the stars, finding water in inhospitably dry regions and even hunting game with bows and arrows.

Formula One racing

The one corporate event, however, that stands head and shoulders above the rest as far as exclusivity goes, is a day at the races – and we’re not talking Greyville Turf Club or Turffontein Race Course. Staff members are urged to embrace sheer velocity with a Formula 1 driving experience and here we’re talking the real deal – a genuine single-seater Reynard, a Jordan F1 or a Birkin S3 – spoiled for choice or what?

Not only will the employees be given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of ripping up the track in a specially designed racing car, they will also experience the nuts and bolts of motor racing, including racing simulation and pit challenges where each team tries to dominate.

A personalised DVD of each employee’s verve and nerve of the memorable day out will surely have them working even harder than before!
