Even though the UN is best known for peacekeeping missions, it has many agencies involved in activities affecting businesses. Do these activities justify support for the UN?

Would it be better if the activities of these agencies were done by private entities such as trade groups?

The UN is best known for being worthless.

google “oil for food program” to see what the UN is all about.

The UN has been, from the very start, almost a total failure as an institution. As with anything in politics, it is not perfect and it is full of corruption and bureaucracy.

Money makes the world go right? You bring up a good point but it is hard to say if things would actually improve. Just ask all the countries suffering genocide for the last 20-30 years and NOTHING is done about it by the UN (very limited role).

Thank God for relief and humanitarian agencies with mostly volunteers who risk their lives daily to help others.

Good question. Other organizations, such as the World Bank, also perform the same type of activities. I think the UN should actually do more and get rid of the others.
