creating a business/ what parents look for in a day care? REPOST?

Hi, this semester for school I’m taking business. I’m hoping every parent can help me. The teacher divided us into groups and he let each group choose the business of his choices. Well my group chose “Kids Community College Day Care” … I don’t really like the name but we aren’t allowed to change it =). Well I am a parent and I know what my expectations and what I look for a day care. But I wanted to know the different opinions on expectations of other parents (what are you looking for in a day care-what type of learning, pricing, activities, sports, etc..). We are trying to create a day care that offers something new that will help your child in the future. From the ages 4 months to 12 years old. Thanks in advance.

I am a strong believer that you get what you pay for with day care. I want my children to go somewhere that they are not in front of a TV all day. The first daycare my son went to was great! He learned lots, and the TV was almost never on, but the cost was high $200 a week. My hubby and I decided that it was too much and switched to a place that only charged $125 a week. There was a HUGE difference. He learned almost nothing, and the TV was on ALL day. I would drop in to get him early from time to time, and he would be in the same spot in front of the TV as he was when I left. Then, since he did nothing but sit in front of the TV all day, he wouldn’t be tired at night! I feel like it was worth it to pay more and have him active and learning!

I have an 18 month old boy and 3 1/2 year old girl in daycare. The first things you look for of course are that the kids are well taken care of and well supervised. Lots of attention from the caregivers is a big thing with organized group play activities and enough individual attention. And don’t forget the basics – price, location, and what days the facility is open are big factors (I actually looked at a daycare that was closed 17 different work days during the year – more days than I had vacation time in a year!).
